TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Education remains a key pathway to changing one’s life and future, according to Kalinga Board Member Emilio T. Kitongan, who supported the approval of measures renaming four school annexes in Pasil.

Kitongan, chair of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Education, moved for the approval of three municipal ordinances concerning the schools during the provincial board’s regular session on September 22.

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Kitongan said education gives individuals an opportunity to improve their lives, making measures that support schools important.

“Education is important because it is the passport of every individual to make the first step to change their life or their future,” Kitongan said.

He added that he immediately moved for the approval of the ordinances because the measures could help improve the schools and expand opportunities for students.

“In-move tayo dagos daytoy nga ordinance tapno ma-upgrade dagitoy eskelaan ditoy Pasil. If this pushes through, ado manen dagiti estudiantes nga maikkan ti tyansa nga makaeskwela nga mas nasaysayaat.”

The three ordinances seek to remove the “Annex” designation from four school names:

Municipal Ordinance No. 2026-29 – Cagaluan Elementary School–Dao Annex to Dao Elementary School, and Cagaluan Elementary School–Putao Annex to Putao Elementary School;

Municipal Ordinance No. 2026-30 – Balinciagao Elementary School–Limood Annex to Balinciagao Sur Elementary School; and

Municipal Ordinance No. 2026-31 – Pasil Central School Malucsad Annex to Malucsad Elementary School.

Kitongan said he supports measures that address the needs and concerns of schools, particularly those that could benefit learners.

The provincial board’s approval allows the measures to proceed to the succeeding processes required for the separation, independence and formal renaming of the school annexes under applicable DepEd rules.
