Tabuk City, Kalinga – As Kalinga Provincial Hospital faces ‘challenges’ from the suspension of its PhilHealth accreditation, its management assures the public that measures are being taken to address the issue.

The suspension, resulting from the health facility's administrative offense in 2014, which involved four counts of misrepresentation by furnishing false or incorrect information, will be in effect from March 1 to June 1 of this year. If not resolved, revocation will occur on June 2, 2024.

During this period, PhilHealth has announced that no claims for hospitalizations will be paid by their office.

In response to this issue, KPH has stated that various services will continue to benefit the public. These include assistance to indigent patients, support from the Department of Health's Medical Assistance for Indigent and Financially Incapable Patients (MAIP), and financial aid from the Social Welfare and Development Office (SWAD).

Furthermore, medicines available at the hospital will remain free. If unavailable at KPH, patients in need can access medications at Ambigaton Pharmacy, subject to reimbursement.

For patients requiring blood transfusions, the hospital has established an agreement with the Philippine Red Cross, providing free blood, subject to proper endorsement.

Additionally, KPH has entered into Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs) with institutions such as Holy Trinity Medical Center and Almora General Hospital, granting access to free colonoscopy, EGD, and CT-Scan procedures, with minimal reading fees for those referred by KPH.

The hospital's CT-Scan facility will continue operations for diagnostic imaging procedures.

Free laboratory tests will persist for senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWD), and persons deprived of liberty (PDL).

Orthopedic implants will be provided free of charge to those in need under MAIP.

“We want to express our gratitude for your patience and understanding during this time of transition. Rest assured, leaders at both the local and national levels are actively engaged in seeking solutions to the challenges we face,” concluded the management.
