Lubuagan, Kalinga – The Municipality of Lubuagan held a necrological service for the late former Vice Mayor Corey A. Dickpus Sr. on January 27 at Capitol Hills in Poblacion, paying tribute to his service and contributions to his constituents during his years as a public official.

A necrological service is a memorial event commonly held in the Philippines for public officials and notable figures to honor their life, achievements, and service to the people.

Dickpus served as Vice Mayor of Lubuagan from 2001 to 2004. He also held the position of Punong Barangay of Poblacion from 1994 to 2001.

The 64-year-old former official passed away on January 21, when operatives served an arrest warrant against him for multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder at around 2:00 to 2:32 a.m. in Poblacion. The operation allegedly resulted in a shootout, which led to his death and the injury of a police officer.

Earlier, the Municipal Local Government Unit (LGU) extended its condolences to Dickpus’s family, stating: “His steadfast dedication to public service and unwavering commitment to his constituents shall not be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace.”

The remains of the late public official were laid to rest on January 27, 2026.
