Tabuk City, Kalinga – With the ongoing conflict in Lubuagan, Governor James Edduba encouraged more police visibility in the town to ensure safety of the constituents.

The governor conveyed this during the emergency meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) on May 2, 2023 to discuss the Mabongtot-Lubuagan conflict. The meeting aimed at finding solution to said concern to prevent more bloodshed in the municipality.

It could be recalled that last month, a 65-year-old farmer who was a resident of Mabilong was shot to death on his farm at said barangay.

Edduba, as reported by the Kalinga Provincial Information Office, asked the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office for relief operations for Mabongtot tribe who has been isolated since the dispute sparked.

For his part, Lubuagan Mayor Joel Tagaotao committed to letting the involved families talk and arrive at a consensus.

Tasks have been likewise assigned to each member of the PPOC for the matter.

Other agendum tackled in the convention was the ongoing dispute between the Betwagan and Butbut tribes wherein Mt. Province Governor, Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr. recommended that the police officers in Kalinga and Mt. Province who were guarding the borders to stay at one station. This, he said, would ensure proper coordination among them.
