Tabuk City, Kalinga — Beyond the drumbeats and chants of unity as the province celebrates its 31st Founding Anniversary and the 7th Bodong Festival this February 2026, another sound is set to echo through the Kalinga mountains with the return of the Governor’s Cup Shooting Competition.

Now on its second year, the Governor’s Cup is a Philippine Practical Shooting Association (PPSA) Level 2–sanctioned match featuring handgun (HG), pistol caliber carbine (PCC), and mini rifle (MR) categories, consisting of 10 stages and a minimum of 186 rounds.

Through the partnership between the Provincial Government of Kalinga, led by Governor James S. Edduba, and the Kalinga Provincial Police Office (KPPO), the event will be held at the iKalinga Shooting Range, Rang-ay Eco-Adventure Resort in Rizal, on February 14–15.

Registration fees are set at ₱1,500 for civilians and ₱1,300 for law enforcement personnel, with on-the-spot registration available during the event.

In a phone interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Police Captain Ernesto A. Gayyad Jr. of the KPPO shared that the competition is open to shooting enthusiasts not only from the Cordillera region but from across the Philippines.

He said the event aims to promote sportsmanship, community engagement, and responsible gun ownership among participants, while also showcasing the province’s rich cultural heritage and local products.

“Haan lang from Cordillera ti mabalin sumali sir diay event, uray pay whole Philippines, basta dagijay kayat na sumali ket mabalin.
