Kalinga gets P30M funding for BHWs and indigent patients


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Geared towards improving the social and healthcare service in the province, a P30 million fund was acquired by the provincial government during the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair held at the Benguet State University in La Trinidad, Benguet.

 

The attendance of provincial officials led by Governor James Edduba in said event allowed them to secure P10 million fund allocation though the Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

 

The substantial amount shall be utilized for barangay health workers in the province and other barangay workers who are only receiving minimum wages.


As the program requires, the fund shall benefit ‘near poor’ individuals and families who are in dire need.

 

Meanwhile, apart from the P10 million fund, Kalinga was likewise given additional P20 million through the Medical Assistance for Indigent Patients (MAIP) program.

 

This funding shall benefit indigent patients who will be admitted at the Kalinga Provincial Hospital, providing them some amount to lessen their hospital bills.

 

This development signifies the collaborative efforts of the provincial and national government in dealing with social and healthcare needs, fulfilling their commitment to leaving no one behind.
