Tinglayan, Kalinga — The Kalinga police recovered more than 300 pieces of suspected dried marijuana that were supposed to be transported from Tinglayan to Tabuk City on December 23, 2022.

This is so far the biggest volume of marijuana stalks confiscated in a single operation in Kalinga since January this year, according to Kalinga Police Information Officer, PCapt. Ruff Manganip.

The said contraband was discovered at Sitio Silay in Poblacion, Tinglayan after the police were tipped off about unidentified men allegedly planning to ferry marijuana from Tinglayan to Tabuk City around 4:00 in the morning.

Manganip relayed that the operatives were deployed to verify the information they received. Upon arriving at Sitio Silay, they saw these nine sacks of stockpiled Marijuana beside the road.

He added that the police strategically positioned near the area and waited for anyone who would come get the sacks. However, the suspects could have possibly sensed their presence that no one came.

When the sacks were opened, a total of 358 pieces of suspected marijuana bricks and in tubular form were found. These were estimated to be worth P42,960,000.00.

These suspected illegal weeds were brought to the Kalinga Police Forensic Unit for proper disposition.
