Tabuk City, Kalinga – There is no denying the exceptional potential of yKalingas in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) as they continue to dominate the competitions they join.

One of these is the recently concluded Reign of Mingors in Tabuk City, Kalinga, which was attended by selected fighters from Baggao, Tuguegarao City, Cavite, Nueva Vizcaya, Mt. Province, Benguet, Baguio, Ifugao, and Manila.

The event, held on April 27 at the Kalinga Sports Center, featured three disciplines - Muay Thai, boxing, and kickboxing.

According to Erwin Tagure, one of the coaches who organized the event, the athletes in Kalinga played against the invited teams from the said city and provinces. Out of the 39 bouts, 34 were won by yKalingas.

When asked why MMA coaches in Kalinga decided to host the Reign of Mingors, a major MMA activity in the province, Tagure shared they wanted to showcase the skills and abilities of the yKalinga young fighters.

He added that the event also aimed at strengthening and further enforcing combat sports to the young ones in Kalinga. He asserted that keeping the youth occupied with sports does not just nourish their physical aspect, but also keeps them away from negative influences that might compromise their bright future.
