“Kalinga Treasure’s Fair 2023 generates P17.1M sales”-DTI

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Kalinga Treasure’s Fair 2023 generated P17,161,609 in sales, according to Trade Promotion Officer Benedicta Mangadap of the Department of Trade and Industry – Kalinga.

The 14-day exhibition’s total sales this year are 462% higher than the P3,053,952 sales recorded by the local agency last year.

In a bid to help Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) promote and market their products, DTI – Kalinga, in partnership with the provincial government and other partner agencies, showcases the sector at the forefront by conducting a trade fair annually during the province’s founding anniversary celebration.

This year, products of 137 assisted MSMEs were featured in the exhibition since it was opened to the public from February 06 to 19 along MSA Boulevard, National Road, in front of Saint Tonis College, Inc. in Bulanao, Tabuk City.

In his talk during the Closing Program and Exhibitor’s Night, DTI - Kalinga Provincial Director Renie Ramos expressed his utmost gratitude to all partner agencies, exhibitors and mostly to Chamber of Tabuk City-Kalinga Producers, Inc. (CTCKAPI) for their contribution in the successful conduct of the event.

MSME Booths

Mangadap disclosed about 105 booths were set up in the Treasure's Fair, 101 of which were occupied by individual MSMEs. Three booths, she said, were made available for DTI MSMEs under its special programs including Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) with 8 MSMEs, Negosyo Center with 23, and Youth Entrepreneurship with 5 MSMEs.

Of the overall sales, 64% is from local MSMEs in the manufacturing industry, including sales of guest exhibitors, says Mangadap in an interview. Under the said industry are sectors on Wearables and Fashion Accessories, Homestyles/Furniture and Furnishings, Gifts and House Decors, Ornamental Plants, Processed Foods, and Coffee and Cacao.

The agency likewise recorded P642,500 sales from booked orders.

The Trade Promotion Officer encouraged the MSMEs to continue producing, improving, and developing “new” quality products to become competitive and gain a wider market, not only at the local level but even in the export market.

Hope for an enclosed venue

For next time, the local agency hopes for an enclosed venue along St. Tonis College only wherein the booths are on both sides, just like the set-up in 2017 to 2019.

“We also hope that the next fair, it will be held at the same venue but this time will be enclosed to be friendlier to buyers and exhibitors and safer for everyone as well. These are the major comments and requests by our exhibitors which they wrote in their Client Satisfaction Feedback (CSF) form we distributed to them,” said Mangadap.
