Lagawe, Ifugao - A long-awaited infrastructure project that will provide better access to government services and faster transportation of agricultural produce is soon to begin construction in Lagawe, Ifugao.

This is after the Department of Agriculture–Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP) approved the construction of the 10.83-kilometer Caba-Luta-Ponghal-Buyabuyan farm-to-market road with a bridge in town.

DA-PRDP Cordillera, in its report, said the green light came with the issuance of the No Objection Letter 2 (NOL2), which allows the subproject to proceed to construction.

The contract, amounting to P368.7 million, has been awarded to JC Palolo Construction and Construction Supply as the winning bidder.

The road will benefit barangays of Caba, Luta, Ponghal, and Buyabuyan and nearby communities in Banga, Pullaan, Olilicon, and Tupaya.

A total of 3,808 residents are expected to benefit from the road project. Most of the beneficiaries’ livelihoods are tied to agriculture; hence, the road is a big help for them to bring their crops faster to the market.

Once completed, the FMR will not only cut transportation time and costs but will also open new opportunities for the farmers to scale up their production, access wider markets, and improve their quality of life.

According to the DA-PRDP CAR, a pre-construction conference will be conducted as soon as possible to go over detailed implementation processes and disbursement guidelines and ensure that all stakeholders are aligned before the civil work begins.
