Lumin-Awa Bike Fest draws over 100 bikers across Northern Luzon

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A total of 165 cyclists from across Northern Luzon—ranging from young riders to adults and even elders—came together for the Lumin-Awa Bike Fest on February 15, 2026, celebrating fitness, camaraderie, and the breathtaking landscapes of Kalinga.


With the theme “Active Transport: Promoting Active Mobility para iwas NCD,” Board Member Julius Glenn Amla spearheaded the event, highlighting the province’s scenic routes while promoting active mobility.


The participants came mainly from Kalinga, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, and Quirino, traversing the scenic TRAAK Ranch, the Alunday Farm, and Callagdao, before exiting between the Callagdao DENR Office and the PNP Checkpoint en route to the finish line.


Meanwhile, Governor James S. Edduba graced the send-off ceremony at the starting line in the Capitol Canopy, encouraging the cyclists to share their experiences and inviting more people to discover the province’s unique blend of culture, heritage, and outdoor adventure.


The winners


The event featured five categories: 46 years old and above; 31 to 45 years old; 16 to 20 years old; 15 years old and below; and the Fun Bike Category. The winners in each category were Danny B. Aquino (Santiago City); Boots Miranda (Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya); Laurent Briel Ballog (Tabuk City); Nathaniel Dalanao Jr. (Tabuk City); and Arjay Abbacan (Tuguegarao City), respectively.


The winners each received a cash prize of P5,000 and a plaque, while the rest of the participants were given finisher medals.


The bike fest not only promoted physical activity and camaraderie among Northern Luzon cycling enthusiasts but also showcased Kalinga as a prime destination for adventure tourism and active mobility initiatives.
