Balbalan, Kalinga – Balbalan Mayor Almar Malannag assured that student-employees are deployed to work in offices and not in fields to give them the workplace experience they need for future employment.

Through the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES), which assists poor but deserving students, 82 learners in Balbalan were temporarily employed by the government in June. Said students shall complete 20 working days.

Sixty of the 82 were funded by the Department of Labor and Employment – Kalinga, while salaries of the 22 were shouldered by the Municipal Local Government Unit of Balbalan.

“Awan pinagdalus ko kadakuada, awan inruwar ko ta kunak haan kayo nga kamanero,” he said.

The mayor stressed that students need to experience the workplace for them to have something to write on their resumes right after graduation.

“Idi nag-apply ak as a political science student ken history awan iti ammuk nga ikabil ko idiay resume’k ta awan iti padas ko. Isu nga haan nga mabalin nga mapan ka agdaldalus dita kalsada, agyan kayo idiay opisina kunak,” he relayed.
