Tabuk City, Kalinga – During the Final Energy Summit in Kalinga held Tuesday, November 08 at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Hall, a measure was sought by the august body seeking the National Electrification Administration (NEA) to expedite the selection process for Kalinga-Apayao Electric Cooperative’s Manager.
The move was pushed in a bid to address the consumers’ request for a General Manager who shall be held responsible for responding to their concerns.
In the second energy summit in September 2022, the President of Bangko Montañosa, Christine Wangdali aired her still unresolved complaint on the posts of National Grid Corporation of the Philippines within her property line in Callagdao.
The complaint, she said, should have been settled if the electric cooperative has a manager to take charge of it.
Board President Isa-ac Baliang earlier pointed they are only following the rigorous selection process of NEA.
KAELCO explains selection of a General Manager
Six applicants initially applied for KAELCO’s General Manager but only four passed the qualifying written examination and were able to reach the interview, relayed Corporate Plan Chief Leonardo Egcatan.
Among the said applicants from KAELCO are Egcatan himself, Finance Manager Elvie Joven, and Technical Manager Engr. Dominic Ayaen. The other applicant who passed the initial screening was from outside the entity.
After passing the interview, the applicants undergo a background investigation. Those with no derogatory records are called for the final interview.
A list of applicants who pass will be transmitted to the Electric Cooperative Board for perusal and selection.
The applicants from KAELCO present in the final summit were given the chance to speak before the council and the audience about their aspirations.
Joven shared she already has a plan in her mind, and she wanted to serve her remaining years of service to improve KAELCO to provide consumer satisfaction.
“Ti kayat ko mangyari ket the consumers ket talaga nga ma-satisfied kuma ti services nga it-ited iti maysa nga electric cooperative. And I know that can be done through good leadership together with a committed workforce and of course with a strong relationship with our stakeholders, the consumers that we serve,” she said.
For his part, Ayaen expressed his willingness to serve and push more efforts in lowering the power bill.
“Kas part mi met as technical, talaga nga ar-aramiden mi met amin diay all the efforts mi nga mangpababa… we are doing the part of the coop nga mangpababa ti system loss ta isu met talaga ti maysa nga kanayun nga isu ti problema tayo,” disclosed the technical manager.
Meanwhile, Egcatan mentioned the three of them share the same commitment and qualifications. One of his inspirations in applying for the position is for the renewal of KAELCO for another 50 years “and to do that, simply is to improve system loss and collection deficiency.”
They thanked the august body for having their voice heard through the summit.
