yKalinga student gets P.1M bouquet on graduation day

Graduating from college is one of the major feats in one’s life; that's why parents do what they can to show their appreciation to their children upon getting their degrees.

For a mom in Tabuk City, her way of congratulating her daughter, Roselyn Gunnawa, was surprising her with a bouquet on her graduation day on January 26, 2024, at St. Louis University in Baguio City.

Instead of the typical flowers, the bouquet was composed of 150 pieces of P1,000 paper bills.

Gunnawa, who finished a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Marketing Management with Specialization in Business Analytics, told GURU Press Cordillera she didn’t expect to receive such a gift, particularly as she didn’t graduate with honors.

She added that she was once one of the dean’s listers, but it was harder to maintain her grades when she lost her father in April 2022.

Meanwhile, the P150,000 cash she got from her mother, Regielyn, will be going into her savings.

“Ma, thank you for being the most loving and supportive mother anyone could ask for. I love you more than words can express,” she addressed her mom.

When asked about her plans now that she has her degree, Gunnawa shared she wants to open a store soon for her cakes and other baked products.
