Tabuk City, Kalinga — More than 2,000 units of blood were collected across Kalinga from January to May 2026 through the combined efforts of local government units, private hospitals, the Philippine Red Cross, and voluntary blood donors, according to reports presented during the Provincial Blood Council’s first-semester meeting on June 10 at Davidson Hotel in Bulanao.

Among the reported collections, Tabuk City recorded the highest number with 1,025 blood units, followed by the Philippine Red Cross, which collected 994 units.

Other municipalities also contributed significantly to the province's blood supply. Balbalan recorded 172 units, Pinukpuk collected 171 units, Rizal contributed 158 units, while Pasil recorded 156 units through blood donation drives and an additional 159 units through its Blood Collecting Unit (BCU). Tanudan collected 135 units, Lubuagan recorded 51 units, and Tinglayan contributed 20 units.

The collection figures underscore the continuing efforts of stakeholders to ensure an adequate blood supply for patients in need of transfusions and emergency medical care.

It can be recalled that Kalinga recorded the second-highest blood collection in the Cordillera Administrative Region in 2024, with a total of 5,015 blood units collected through the collaborative efforts of local government units, partner agencies, private hospitals, the Philippine Red Cross, and voluntary blood donors.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Blood Council, together with the Provincial Health Office, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening voluntary blood donation campaigns and expanding blood collection services across the province, recognizing the critical role of accessible and sufficient blood supplies in saving lives and improving healthcare delivery throughout Kalinga.
