Baguio City, Philippines – Mayor Benjamin Magalong assured that there will be no politics involved in the roll-out of ₱56,000,000 in rice assistance for indigent families in Baguio City.

Provided by the national government through the Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance (LGSF-FA), the fund has already been received by the city government through digital transfer.

According to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), the initiative aims to support local government units (LGUs) across the country in enhancing basic service delivery to their constituents through the provision of funds.

Specifically, the amount will be used by the LGU-Baguio for rice-related initiatives under the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Following the release of the fund, Magalong directed the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) to fast-track preparations so that the assistance can be delivered to qualified beneficiaries across barangays.

A local media source said the CSWD is currently completing the required documents for the program rollout.

During a media interview, Magalong said safeguards will be in place to ensure proper identification of beneficiaries and the correct use of public funds.

“There will be no politics involved. The assistance will go directly to those who need it. Rest assured walang e-epal dito at magagamit ng maayos ang pondo,” Magalong said.

The ₱56 million allocation for Baguio is part of nearly ₱58 billion in nationwide funding under the LGSF-FA, aimed at providing food support to low-income families across the country.

Earlier this month, the province of Kalinga also received ₱17 million under the same program, as announced by Governor James Edduba during a recent meeting.
