Tabuk City, Kalinga – More than 400 aspiring Cordilleran soldiers successfully passed the November 30 to December 3, 2025 Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT), marking a significant milestone for the region’s long-standing commitment to serving both the local community and the nation—driven by values of courage and public service.

The four-day, region-wide assessment was held at the Kalinga State University–Bulanao Campus and was participated in by a total of 694 army aspirants.

On December 15, the Army Testing Office officially announced that 439 applicants had advanced to the next stages of the recruitment process. Of this number, ninety-eight examinees passed the Special Written Examination (SWE) and the Army Qualifying Examination (AQE), with forty-nine passers in each examination.

According to the Philippine Navy, the AFPSAT is a standardized pre-entry examination for applicants to the Philippine Army, Navy, or Air Force. Applicants may apply to only one branch at a time, and passing results are valid for three years.

The examination evaluates an applicant’s aptitude in areas such as verbal and numerical reasoning, as well as other general knowledge skills. Successful examinees will proceed to the SWE—for candidates applying for specialized or technical positions—and the AQE, which evaluates knowledge in mathematics, English, and other relevant subjects.

Earlier in November, recruitment activities were also conducted at other Cordilleran campuses, including Mountain Province State University in Bontoc on November 20–22, followed by Ifugao State University–Lamut Campus in Kiangan on November 25–27.

The successful completion of the AFPSAT by hundreds of Cordilleran applicants underscores the growing interest of the region’s youth in serving the AFP, reinforcing the values of nationalism and dedication to public service.
