Tabuk City, Kalinga – Through a tip-off, police, on Monday, February 6, recovered marijuana leaves and suspected shabu in an abandoned car at Mosimos, Dupag, Tabuk City, Kalinga.

Police were notified on said day about a silver/green Pajero bearing plate number UST 711 ferrying illegal contrabands, which they received from Tinglayan, Kalinga.

While they were able to proceed to the area upon receipt of the information, they were no longer able to arrest the suspects on board the car but found the abandoned vehicle instead, along with the illegal drugs.

At the scene, they recovered 205 kilograms of marijuana bricks, 22.5 kilograms of tubular marijuana, 6.25 kilograms of vacuum-sealed dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops, and 6 grams of suspected shabu.

Kalinga police said the marijuana has a market value of P28,050,000 while the suspected shabu amounts to P40,800.

Apart from the illegal drugs, also seized by authorities were 2 pieces of vehicle plate number JZS 649, a black backpack, and the Pajero vehicle with plate number UST 711.

Following an on-site inventory, the pieces of evidence were later transported to the Tabuk City Police Station for documentation.

Acting Police Provincial Director, PCol Freddie Lazona, said the police force is now conducting follow-up investigations and hot pursuit operations against the suspects.

He likewise assured that Kalinga police are doing all means to eliminate illegal drugs in Kalinga to become a drug-free province, in collaboration with the Kalinga people.
