Over P4M distributed to 755 GIP and TUPAD beneficiaries in Kalinga during Labor Day celebration

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Around 755 yKalingas received their wages amounting to over P4 million on Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

 

Said individuals are recipients of the Department of Labor and Employment’s TUPAD program and the Government Internship Program (GIP).

 

The pay-out of the recipients served as one of the featured events during the celebration of the 122nd Labor Day held at the Capitol Hills in Bulanao, Tabuk City.

 

As relayed by Dionica Legasi, Information Officer of the provincial government of Kalinga, 643 individuals were recipients of the TUPAD program while 143 were beneficiaries of GIP.

 

TUPAD recipients were entitled to over P3 million in wages, with each individual receiving P4,300, while GIP–employed individuals were given over P1 million.


The amount given to GIP recipients varies as their wage is based on their number of days at work.

 

Governor James Edduba, during the opening program, advised the recipients to utilize their wages wisely and suggested they could use them for the needs of their children who are studying.

 

He also revealed plans to boost the coffee industry in Kalinga, with TUPAD beneficiaries taking on the main role of cultivating it.

 

Meantime, Tanudan and Pasil LGUs were also awarded checks amounting to P988,380 and P362,348, respectively. These will be utilized for TUPAD implementation in said areas.
