Tabuk City, Kalinga – Hundreds of millions of illegal weeds found in the province recently went up in smoke.

In a three-day operation in Tinglayan, more than P300 million worth of marijuana plants and dried leaves were torched by teams of police officers and government troops.

According to the Police Regional Office Cordillera, the authorities found P332,800,000 worth of fully grown marijuana plants and stockpiled dried marijuana leaves with fruiting tops in 10 plantation sites in Buscalan and Loccong on May 5-6.

The next day, the operating teams, accompanied by the Cordillera Police Regional Director, PBGen. David Peredo Jr. himself and other top police officials in the region, uprooted P30,000,000 worth of illegal weeds discovered in a 500-square-meter plantation at Mount Chumanchil.

All these illegal plants were burned onsite.

The police have already launched an investigation into the possible identification of cultivators on said plantation sites.
