Pasil honors contribution of elderly to community

Pasil, Kalinga – In celebration of the crucial role of the senior citizens in the community’s development, the local government of Pasil conducted Elderly Week on Friday, October 21 at the Municipal Evacuation, Tucol.


Through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) headed by Segundina Gumabay, the members of the said sector were recognized and were given incentives.


During the program, senior citizens of each barangay in the locality presented their ingenious intermission numbers. Each group received a P3,500 cash incentive, as relayed by MSWDO Gumabay in an interview.

Barangay elderly group of Barangay Bagtayan was later chosen to represent the municipality in the culmination of Provincial Elderly Month slated for Thursday, October 27 in Pinukpuk, Kalinga.


Also, Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag sponsored a raffle draw with a brand new washing machine, two burner stoves, a rice cooker, and 10 Thermos.


Malannag, in his social media post, acknowledged the contribution of the sector to society’s progress.

“We owe what we are today to our elderly. They have immense wisdom, knowledge and experience that contributed much to our society. It is through their efforts that our tradition and cultural values are preserved,” he captioned.


The mayor likewise congratulated concerned departments for the success of the event.


The activity was graced by Governor James Edduba, Vice-Mayor Venancio Magangat, Committee Chairman on Social Welfare Ronaldo Gumabay, among others.
