TABUK CITY, Kalinga — Pasil’s Tachok-Salip Festival will showcase Kalinga’s rich cultural heritage through the banga dance, gongs, chants, and coordinated movements during the 5th Cordillera Festival of Festivals in Baguio City on October 17.

The presentation will highlight the community’s joy, unity, and cultural identity as Kalinga joins the regional cultural showcase organized by the Department of Tourism–Cordillera Administrative Region (DOT-CAR).

Kalinga Governor James S. Edduba emphasized the importance of preserving indigenous traditions beyond festival performances, urging Cordillerans to pass on their customs and values to younger generations.

“By strengthening cultural identity, protecting indigenous traditions, and empowering local communities, we can ensure that our heritage remains alive and meaningful for generations to come,” Edduba said.

The festival will feature eight festivals from provinces and cities across the Cordillera, with more than 500 performers expected to participate along Session Road in Baguio City.

The event is among the highlights of the Discover More to Love Homecoming Caravan, scheduled from October 17 to 20.

DOT-CAR Regional Director Jovita Ganongan said the festival goes beyond entertainment, as the performances tell stories of the Cordillera people’s history, values, identity, and relationship with their land.

Edduba stressed that preserving indigenous heritage requires communities to keep their traditions alive in everyday life, not only during cultural celebrations.
