'Peace and order in Tinglayan stable,' says COP Assayco

Updated: Dec 14, 2023

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Peace and order in the municipality of Tinglayan is stable, said Acting Chief of Police (COP) Police Captain Judymar Assayco during an interview with Station 1 Radio on December 7, 2023.

During a patrol of the PNP-Tinglayan in the municipality, the COP gave time to a Station 1 Radio broadcaster for a quick talk, discussing the situation in said Municipality.

“Nu peace and order ditoy Tinglayan, it is stable. Awan met ti nakaru nga gulo,” he answered when asked about the peace and order status of the municipality.

One factor maintaining the peace and order in Tinglayan, he stated, could be the community's traditional method to resolve issues amicably.

"The traditional way, where people resolve conflicts among themselves peacefully in the barangany, greatly supports the police in handling misunderstandings," he said.

Assayco added the community still values this approach as it prevents minor problems from escalating into more severe state.

“Kasla idi namingsan, adda iti nasulbar nga dagus ta gapu ditoy multa. Ket both parties ket nagtungtong da, nag-settle da nga dagus, nag-multa diay adda basol na. Daytoy ket makatulong met lang a tapnu ma-prevent dagiti conflicts from worsening,” he explained.

Other than that, residents are cooperative with both their PNP and their LGU to build a peaceful environment there.

Assayco likewise mentioned the impact of police visibility as a means to reassure people that they are being looked after.

Additionally, they conduct regular visits in barangays to establish connections with the community, focusing on educating the youth about anti-drug practices, providing information on safety measures, especially during holidays, and assisting in their tourism industry by making sure of the safety and well-being of both locals and visitors.

The PNP also extend assistance to individuals in need and volunteer for various initiatives to support those requiring help, he added.
