Tabuk City, Kalinga- Around 32 Persons with Disability (PWD) registered today, April 29, 2021 for the screening, evaluation and interview, for the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OSAP) to identify who will qualify to avail of prosthesis, orthosis and other mobility devices at a minimal cost, if not for free.

OSAP conducted said activity with Regional Chairman of MRRD Benjamin P. Lucas and Kalinga Provincial Local Government Unit, in partnership with MVRN (Ma. Victoria R. Nazarita) Prosthesis Center. This was held at the Capitol Gymnasium.

According to Lucas, after the measurement, registered PWDs were interviewed by the DSWD in preparation for the social case study, which is one of the requirements.

“Ngayon, after na ma-process ito, the OSAP will issue the MVRN guarantee letter. Si MVRN, gawa siyang costing sa pasyente. Halimbawa, isang paa P35,000.

Provincial Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) Michael Karel Sugguiyao saw this public-private convergence to help the PWDs as a ‘window of opportunities’ which he considered when Lucas through a call, informed him about a certain patient.

“Dituy Tabuk, adda ti maysa a pasyente nga eligible for the prosthetics ket gayem tayo met ni Board Member Mike isunga intawag ko nu am ammu u daytoy a tao ket nag-request.

Mayat daytoy a gayem ta kunana nga apay ngay maymaysa, apay di ta mabalin a duwa-en wennu adu pay, ket pwede naman,” recalled Lucas.

Sugguiyao in response said that taking advantage of such opportunities is a way of returning the favor to the public.

“Agtitinulong lang, especially daytoy a pandemic, isunga adda tayo ti gobyerno. I coordinated with the governor, ket kunana ‘sige, agtitinulong tayo,’” Suguiyao underscored.

“Kasla ngay a mapespestiriknam a mangkita a madagdagsenan so siguro nu next, nu i-award dan tu ket kitam tu su da ket mabang-aran ka,” he added.

According to Lucas, the beneficiaries should expect that they will be awarded the prosthesis, orthosis, and mobility devices one to two months after the release of all the requirement00s.

“Dakkel nga iyaman mi ta adda daytoy a gundaway a mangted ti artificial a saka mi,” Oscar Gaddao a beneficiary said gratefully.

Those who were not able to make it today may coordinate with the office of IPMR Sugguiyao. “Siguro maurnung, maprofile then nu agsubli kami agi-award,” says Lucas.
