ROXAS, Isabela — The Municipal Government of Roxas, Isabela, led by Mayor Benedict C. Calderon, has assured assistance to the families affected by the deadly explosion in Barangay Sinamar on Sunday, October 4.

In a statement posted on the same day, the LGU expressed its condolences to the families of John Mark M. Peralta, John Yohan J. Binuyat, Emmanuel C. Disamito, and Gloria A. Jabonitalla, who died in the incident.

The municipal government said it would prioritize the immediate needs of the victims and their families, including assistance for the medical expenses of those injured and additional financial support for the affected families.

The LGU also expressed its solidarity with the community, saying there were no words enough to ease the pain of the loss and that it was praying for the recovery of those injured.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Susan Magno also extended her condolences to the families of the children who died and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.

In a reminder posted on October 4, Magno urged families in Roxas to warn children against touching or playing with unfamiliar objects or anything they suspect could be dangerous while authorities continue their investigation.

She also called on residents to remain vigilant and exercise caution to prevent similar incidents.

The explosion occurred at around 9 a.m. in Purok Raniag, Barangay Sinamar, after children reportedly found and played with an unidentified metallic object that later exploded.

The blast killed three children and Jabonitalla, an 85-year-old resident who was also caught in the incident. Several other minors were injured and brought to medical facilities.

Authorities have yet to establish the exact nature and origin of the object. The Provincial Explosives and Ordnance Disposal and Canine Unit and forensic personnel processed the scene as the investigation continued.

The incident has prompted renewed calls for parents and guardians to remind children not to touch unfamiliar objects, particularly those that may pose a danger, and to immediately report suspicious items to authorities.
