Soldier from Natonin, Mt. Province is Top 7 in Philippine Army Officer Candidate Course “Bumannawag” Class of 2025

Natonin, Mt. Province — Second Lieutenant Aldrin Balinggao from Butac, Natonin, Mt. Province, has made not only his hometown but the entire Cordillera proud after placing in the top 10 graduates of the Philippine Army’s Officer Candidate Course (OCC) “Bumannawag” Class 63-2025.


The Officer Candidate Course is a prestigious program of the Philippine Army that trains civilians and enlisted personnel to become commissioned officers. It is known for its rigorous physical training, mental assessments, and intensive leadership development.


Graduates of the course earn the rank of Second Lieutenant (2LT) and are entrusted with leading soldiers in service to the nation.


For the “Bumannawag” Class 63-2025, the cadets (no publicly available total) began their training in January 2025 and became full-fledged commissioned officers on November 11. Graduation rites will be held later this month.


In a Facebook post on November 21, the Philippine Army Officer Candidate School named the top 10 officer candidates of the class, where Balinggao ranked Top 7. He is the only candidate from the Cordillera to enter the top 10.


A graduate of Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (now MPSU) with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Balinggao’s Top 7 OCC finish adds to his list of notable achievements.


According to a local media source, he was also the Top 1 graduate of the Candidate Soldier Course in 2021 and Top 10 in the 2020 Probationary Officer Training Course. He currently serves as Commander of Charlie Company, where he continues to exemplify resilience, discipline, and dedication.
