While many would say that the secret to a long life is eating good and nutritious food, a 100-year-old man in Tabuk City has additional insights into the matter.

According to a study conducted in 2020, the average life expectancy of Filipinos is 71 years, two years less than the global average of 73.

One individual who has surpassed this life expectancy is Arturo Arcio, who celebrated his centennial year last year. He was born on July 9, 1923, in Tulgao, Tinglayan, and currently resides in Nambaran, Tabuk City.

Like many other centenarians, Arcio attributed his longevity to healthy living habits, having abstained from vices such as smoking, drinking, or chewing ‘momma’. Additionally, he highlighted that the stability of his family has significantly contributed to his long life, emphasizing his commitment to one wife throughout his lifetime.

Upon reaching 100 years of age, Arcio was recently honored with a P50,000 award by the Provincial Government Unit, under the leadership of Governor James Edduba. The cash gift was presented by the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, as reported by the Kalinga Provincial Information Office.

Furthermore, as a token of appreciation from the Provincial Government Unit, Arcio got assistance covering his basic necessities.
