Lagangilang, Abra - An 18-year-old student is now being treated at a hospital after he was shot by a fellow student near Abra University this Saturday, August 13.

According to a local media outlet, investigators said the shooting incident occurred just outside the main campus of the university in Sitio Mapaloong, Barangay Poblacion in Langangilang town.

The victim was identified by the police as Prince Albert Barbosa, a resident of Sitio Masanad, Barangay Libtec.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect, 24-year-old Jave Talaga Bragas, was under the influence of alcohol when he provoked Barbosa and shot him multiple times at close range.

Bragas fled the crime scene using a motorcycle, leaving Barbosa lying on the ground bathing in his own blood.

Notified of the shooting incident, the responding authorities rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment.

The report added that Abra police quickly launched a manhunt operation for the arrest of the gunman.

As of this writing, further investigations are ongoing to determine the reasons behind the crime.
