Suspect escapes from cops, left vehicle with P37.3M Marijuana

Tabuk City, Kalinga ̶ A suspect abandoned his car ferrying around P37.3 million worth of suspected marijuana along the irrigation canal road in Barangay Lacnog on Sunday morning, April 18, as he tried to avoid a police check-point.


Kalinga Police Provincial Director PCol. Davy Vicente Limmong said that the authorities were conducting a check-point in Lacnog when they saw an approaching black Mitsubishi Adventure that suddenly swerved towards the irrigation area.

“Almost siguro, more or less 200 meters away, nahalata na [suspect] nga adda ag-check- check point a pulis. Bigla nga inkurba na, sinumrek, sinurot na diay irrigation. Pinaspasan na, idi kitan na awanen iti papanan na siguro haan na kaya iti lugan, pinanawan na diay lugan [ket] timmaray dan,” he said.


“Idi kinita da [police] apay a nag-divert idiay, napan da kinamat. Isu a dinanunan da met ket awanen taon,” he added, noting that there were many possible areas the suspect went. When police investigated the abandoned vehicle, they discovered around 311 kilograms of alleged marijuana bricks with estimated value of P37,320,000.00.


Limmong said that the case will be a regular filing. Meanwhile, the police identified the driver as a certain Sabado Guimba.
