Tabuk Chief of Police relieved from post over escape of 2 detainees

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga Police Deputy Provincial Director for Operations, PLtCol. Domingo Gambican, now serves as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Tabuk City Police Station following the administrative relief of PLtCol. Jack Angog over the escape of two detainees on January 2.


Kalinga Police Director, PCol. Gilbert Fati-ig, confirmed that Angog, the Tabuk City Chief of Police at the time of the incident, was relieved from his post to ensure impartiality while the investigation into the escape is ongoing.


It can be recalled that two individuals, identified as Andres Benito Jr., 35, and Michael Macagne, 39, broke out of their cell by cutting the bars with a hacksaw blade on January 2. The two were arrested for illegal drugs and illegal firearms violations on December 17, 2025, and had been detained at the Tabuk City Police Station before their escape.


Fati-ig, in an interview with Radyo Pilipinas Tabuk, said he received an order from PROCAR Regional Director PBGen. Ericson Dilag to relieve Angog and have Gambican serve as OIC of the Tabuk City Police effective January 6.


“May order po ang ating regional director for me to admin relieve si PLtCol. Jack Angog, COP ng Tabuk CPS. Terminated na po siya, and may order po si DPDO, Deputy Provincial Director for Operations, si LtCol. Domingo Gambican, na in addition to his duties, siya po ang OIC ng Tabuk CPS effective January 6,” he said, adding that Angog was reassigned to the Kalinga Police Provincial Office – Provincial Headquarters.


The Provincial Director also stated that the escapees have not yet been located. He urged anyone with information about their whereabouts to coordinate with the Tabuk City Police to help facilitate their prompt re-arrest.
