Tabuk City VM Dao-as sends help to families affected by Covid-19 in Barangay Malin-awa


Tabuk City, Kalinga – As the Covid-19 cases in Barangay Malin-awa reached 40 and people are having colds due to the cold weather, vitamins were given to all the residents to help them boost their immune systems.


Earlier, it was reported that Barangay Malin-awa was put under lockdown Saturday night, February 20, due to the confirmed Covid-19 cases. Additionally, there are also people who caught normal colds.


The positive cases are currently isolated at Malin-awa Elementary School, while those whose houses are located from a distance are having home quarantine.

In an interview, an employee of the Office of the City Vice Mayor said a resident called for help as they lack some medicine and materials for personal safety. According to the employee, Vice Mayor Bernard Glenn Dao-a upon knowing the situation, purchased 450 boxes of ascorbic acid and 5 boxes of face masks the following day. Each box contained 100 tablets and the fund used came from his own pocket.


The Barangay Health Workers distributed the vitamin C to all the households in Malin-awa. It is for all the residents except 0-5 years old.


Moreover, the office of the city VM shall purchase more boxes after the punong barangay and BHWs requested help for Sitio Binongsay.


There are a total of 2,056 Covid-19 cases recorded in Kalinga wherein 1,473 recovered, 20 died, and 563 are active cases.
