Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA)–Kalinga recently won two gold medals at the 2026 WorldSkills Philippines – Cordillera Regional Skills Olympics (CRSO) held on April 23, highlighting the strong performance of its trainees.

The winners are now being considered for the next level of competition in the National Skills Competition.

The CRSO, organized by TESDA-CAR, gathers top trainees from different provinces across the region to compete in various technical skill areas. It serves as a selection stage to identify and prepare the best trainees in the Cordillera for national and potentially international competitions.

According to TESDA-CAR, participants showcased their skills in fields such as construction, electrical installation, and other technical trades. The competition concluded with a total of 27 gold, 7 silver, and 4 bronze medalists across different categories.

Speaking during the Kapehan Meeting on May 4 at the New Conference Hall in Capitol Hill, Bulanao, TESDA-Kalinga representative Ma. Erlinda T. Noval shared that the province earned two gold medals and one silver medal.

“We joined the Regional Skills Olympic at the regional office, and we joined some categories and competitions. The province earned a silver medal in Wall and Tile Setting. We also have the Clustering and Ripple System—naka-gold po tayo dito. And we also have Electrical Installation, gold din po dito—so all in all, we have 2 gold and 1 silver,” she said.

Noval added that the gold medalists have qualified for the National Skills Competition and may go on to represent not only the province but also the entire region. If successful, they could advance to international skills competitions.

In line with this, the agency is appealing for support from the provincial government.

“So yung dalawang naka-gold, they are entitled for the National Skills Competition and on our part lang po is we need your assistance if ever na pupunta po kami sa national competition. And hopefully po, kapag nanalo sila, pupunta din sila sa International Skills Competition as a representative of our province and the region,” Noval added.

With the achievement bringing pride to the province and the appeal for assistance raised, the Provincial Government of Kalinga, led by Governor James S. Edduba, expressed full support for the initiative and the preparations for the national competition.
