Three entries from Kalinga nominated to compete for 2025 Gawad Parangal sa mga Kabalikat sa Pangisdaan

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Individuals, organizations, and public or private institutions in the country that have shown exemplary contribution and accomplishment in fisheries management and conservation will be recognized at the “2025 Gawad Parangal sa mga Kabalikat sa Pangisdaan” to be conducted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in September this year. 


The said search is part of the agency’s Fish Conservation activities scheduled to take place on September 16-20. 


Kalinga Provincial BFAR Fishing Regulations Officer 1 Sarah Jean Biyang, in an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, disclosed that there are three nominees currently engaged in Fisheries programs presented by them to the regional office for evaluation. 


The nominees, once evaluated and approved by the BFAR-Cordillera, will be notified and will represent the region in the national search.

These nominees include the Tabuk Agricultural Services (OCAS),  a BFAR coordinator for Tanudan whose name was not disclosed by the BFAR officer, and the Kalinga Provincial Veterinary Office (PVET).


 “Ada tallo nga nominations tayo ditoy Kalinga nga inforward mi idiay regional office. Once they qualify in the regional, mapan da diay national level. Ang binigay namin (sa regional office) is the Tabuk OCAS, diay maysa nga coordinator tayo for Tanudan, ken ni PVET,” shared Biyang.


Biyang explained that the nominees are selected by the agency for their great contribution and their impact on the development, improvement, management, and conservation of fisheries and aquatic resources in the province. 


Once the Kalinga nominees manage to enter the national search, they will be recognized and presented during the 61st Fish Conservation Week to be held on September 20 at the BFAR Central Office.
