Tinglayan Municipality will have its new administration in June

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Municipality of Tinglayan will be welcoming a new administration next month after the people elected their next set of leaders until 2028.

 

For the midterm polls, there were 11,260 individuals from the 20 barangays in Tinglayan who were eligible to take part in the election process held last May 12.

 

In a close match, Charles Abay won the mayoral race against Roger Ngao-i. Abay got 5,807 votes while Ngao-i received 5,023.


Garnering the most votes, Abay, who once served Tinglayan as Vice Mayor, will take over Tinglayan from the leadership of Outgoing Mayor Sacrament Gumilab in June. The lawyer Mayor led the town for the past nine years, setting unprecedented developments.

 

For the next three years, the new mayor-elect will be governing Tinglayan alongside a political newbie, Ret. PCapt. Alexander Malasi, who won the vice mayoral race against Frank Ollaging. Malasi got 6,033 votes while Ollaging gained 4,617.

 

Completing the new set of leaders included winning councilors Regina Banglag, Jaime Tuguic, Francisco Ando, Matthew Awis, Camilo Sa-ing, Samuel Saguilot, Brendon Gonnay, and Ramon Dungoc.
