Tinglayan sends off licensed teacher, midwife in Mr. and Ms. Kalinga 2024

Updated: Jan 23

Tinglayan, Kalinga – As Kalinga's celebration of its distinct culture draws near, excitement is also building up for one of the most anticipated events during the festivities - the Mr. and Ms. Kalinga 2024 pageant.

This year, it is not just the ladies showcasing their beauty and intellect; men are also stepping into the spotlight, aspiring not only to shine on the provincial men's pageant stage but also in national pageants.

Representing the Tinglayan municipality this year are ambassadors who proudly embrace their rich heritage and embody the values that define every Tinglayano.

The chosen duo successfully passed this year's screening for Kalinga's grandest pageant.

Juanito Wanson, from the Basao sub-tribe, is a licensed professional teacher. On the other hand, Mercedes Moguil, hailing from the Sumadel sub-tribe, is a licensed midwife currently working in Benguet.

While Wanson is a neophyte in the pageantry world, his female counterpart, Moguil, has already participated in local pageants in Benguet, including the Miss Baguio 2022 pageant.

"Their journey to this stage is a testament to their dedication, talent, and commitment to making our community proud. Now, more than ever, they need our support. Let's come together as one community, rallying behind our official candidates as they prepare to dazzle the stage with their grace and charisma," wrote the Tinglayan local government unit.

Tinglayanos can show their support through cheers, social media shout-outs, and by casting their votes once the online voting starts.

"As they step into the spotlight, let's ensure they feel the warmth and strength of our community behind them. Together, we can celebrate our culture, showcase our talent, and demonstrate the unbreakable spirit that defines us as a community," conveyed the Tinglayan LGU.

Meanwhile, Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, in a message, extended his best wishes to the two ambassadors as they embark on bringing pride to the municipality, empowering themselves with more confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
