APAYAO, Philippines — Two government hospitals in Apayao ranked among the Top 10 nationwide in the Department of Health’s 2025 Level 2 Scorecard Performance Evaluation, placing the province’s medical facilities at the forefront of government hospital performance in the Cordillera.

The Far North Luzon General Hospital and Training Center (FNLGHTC) in Luna ranked fourth nationwide with a 91.67% rating, while Conner District Hospital (CDH) placed 10th with 86.96% among 79 DOH hospitals assessed across the country.

The results were published by the DOH on October 6.

The two Apayao hospitals also ranked first and second, respectively, among government-run hospitals in the Cordillera included in the evaluation.

The DOH Level 2 Scorecard Performance Evaluation measures how effectively government hospitals meet their annual targets across strategic, core and support functions. The assessment covers key areas of hospital performance, including service delivery, clinical outcomes, operational efficiency and support systems.

For FNLGHTC, the fourth-place national ranking marked a significant improvement from its 16th-place standing in 2024.

In a statement, the hospital attributed the improvement to the collective efforts of its workforce in meeting its targets and strengthening its performance management systems.

“The achievement reflects the hospital’s strong performance in delivering its committed targets across strategic, core, and support functions, as well as the collective efforts of the FNLGHTC workforce in advancing organizational priorities, strengthening performance management, and sustaining a culture of excellence in public healthcare service,” FNLGHTC said.

CDH, meanwhile, credited its healthcare workers for helping the hospital secure a place in the national Top 10.

The hospital described the ranking as a milestone affirming its commitment to providing quality, accessible and patient-centered healthcare to residents of Apayao and neighboring communities.

The results place the two Apayao hospitals among the leading government healthcare facilities nationally and highlight their performance in meeting the DOH’s targets for public hospital service delivery.
