TWO dead, one still missing in Kabugao, Apayao landslide

Kabugao, Apayao – Two individuals were confirmed dead, while one remains missing after a landslide struck an upland area along Purag Creek in Barangay Badduat, Kabugao, Apayao on Thursday morning, November 20.


According to a report from the Kabugao Municipal Information Office, the fatalities were identified as Ezra Paul Olsim, 24, from Baguio City, and alias “Nestor,” 27, from Itogon, Benguet.


The report stated that the bodies were retrieved at around 11:37 a.m. following search, rescue, and retrieval operations conducted by uniformed personnel, the MDRRMO, and other concerned agencies.


Ezra Paul and Nestor reportedly sustained fatal crushing injuries from the landslide, resulting in their untimely deaths.


Meanwhile, the missing individual has been initially identified by the alias “Marlo.” The Municipal Information Office noted that search efforts will resume once conditions are deemed safe, as the area remains highly prone to additional landslides.


The local government unit, led by Mayor Bensmar B. Ligwang and Vice Mayor Frederick C. Amid, extended its deepest sympathies to the victims’ families and continues to remind the public to remain vigilant.
