Sagada, Mt. Province  - The town of Sagada in Mt. Province in Cordillera celebrates its 12th“Etag” Festival— the smoked meat festival is an annual celebration of the municipality to show the town’s culture and traditions.

Sagada is famous for its etag, a cured and smoked pork delicacy that plays an essential role in the local culture. The etag represents Sagada's vibrant history and customs and is commonly consumed during significant events and ceremonies, hence the festival's name.

With this year’s theme, “Valuing Culture: Etag Festival 2025—Uniting Flavors, Strengthening Communities,” the Etag festival is also celebrated as a means of expressing gratitude to the almighty for bountiful harvest and blessings, according to Sagada Mayor Felicito O. Dula during his interview with the media.

"Our celebration is an event that will highlight the culture and solidarity of our community. The festival serves not only to display our vibrant traditions but also to unite us in creating lasting memories and reinforcing the connections that bind us together,” he added.

The mayor is inviting everyone to visit their town and join the festivities, saying “I encourage everyone to come and participate in our Etag Festival happening from January 30 to February 2”.

Meanwhile, Mt. Province Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan Jr., in a statement, reminded the people of Sagada to focus on solidarity and progress while enjoying the event.

“May these celebrations inspire continued unity, prosperity, and peace among us all,” the Governor added.

Date of events

The four-day celebration commenced on Thursday, January 30, 2025, featuring the launch of the Agro-industrial Trade Fair—an event that showcases agricultural and industrial products from the community. These fairs can also promote tourism and cultural heritage.

Aside from the trade fair, a painting contest, live demonstrations, and the Cultural Rhythms folk dancing contest were also conducted that day.

On January Friday, 31, children and elderly individuals will be in the spotlight as they engage in the parlor games and Zumba dance competition, respectively. A forum for farmers is also scheduled for the same day.
