San Mariano, Isabela - A piece of alleged fake information cost a woman her life after she was stabbed to death by her own brother-in-law in San Mariano, Isabela.

Although reports of local media outlets in Isabela did not mention the exact date of the incident, it was said that it had just happened recently, while the victim, hidden under the name “Cora,” was taking a bath.

An investigation conducted by the San Mariano Police Station revealed that the brother-in-law, alias “Pedro,” believed Cora spread false information to his wife, who is working abroad.

The alleged fake gossip of Cora to Perdro’s wife sparked constant quarrels between the couple. It also deepened the grudge between Pedro and Cora, who already had past misunderstandings based on the police findings.

On the day of the incident, it was found out that Cora was taking a bath at a stream in said municipality when Pedro abruptly struck her with a pointed object.

Cora shouted for help and was heard by her husband, who hurried to the location, only to see his wife being stabbed repeatedly.

Pedro quickly escaped following the violent act, while Cora was rushed to the hospital with assistance from their neighbors.

Unfortunately, she was not able to reach the hospital alive as she was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

In a follow-up report, San Mariano PNP said that Pedro surrendered to the authorities. Since the 36-hour regulatory period (the maximum time a person can be arrested without a warrant of arrest) has passed, police filed a regular murder case against him.
