1 dead, 5 injured after car fell into ravine in Bontoc

Bontoc, Mt. Province – A 53-year-old woman died from head injury, while her five companions were injured after their vehicle fell into a ravine in Bontoc, Mountain Province on Sunday evening, December 28.

 

The victim identified by the Bontoc Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office as Cherylina Geston Dalilis, who was a resident of Pico, La Trinidad, was driving a Mitsubishi Montero last night when her car fell into a 20-meter ravine along the Bontoc-Mainit Provincial Road in Sitio Aratey, Guina-ang. The vehicle after the fall went straight into the rice field.

 

Upon receiving a distress call, the Bontoc MDRRMO proceeded to the scene where they found Dalilis lying unconscious beside the wrecked car. She was declared dead on-site by Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Diga Kay D. Gomez due to traumatic head injury secondary to the motor vehicular accident.

 

Authorities likewise extracted her five companions identified as Eunice Geston-Andaya, Eunark Geston Andaya, Destiny Geston Dalilis, Cleijter Geston Andaya, and Ken Shane Kewan and brought them to the Bontoc General Hospital.

 

Cleijter and Ken Shane were discharged by the attending physicians, while the other three were referred to the Cordillera Hospital of the Divine Grace in Wangal, La Trinidad for further treatment.

 

Dalilis’s wake is being held at the Parish Hall of the Cathedral of All Saints.
