2 farmer groups in Tinglayan granted P1.9 livelihood assistance

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Aimed at converting members of the Cordillera Bodong Administration – Cordillera People's Liberation Army (CBA-CPLA) into an ‘army of entrepreneurs’, the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity (OPAPRU) awarded livelihood assistance amounting to P1,900,000 two farmers-association in Tinglayan Kalinga on Tuesday, October 18.


Officer-In-Charge Deputy Presidential Adviser for Operations Susan Marcaida personally awarded the interventions to the Ififila Farmer's Association Inc. of Bangad, Tinglayan, Kalinga and Payngachacjomas Peace and Development Advocate Association (PPDAA) Of Basao, Tinglayan during the ceremony.


Said intervention is under the Sustainable and Inclusive Peace and Transformation (SIPAT) Program of OPPAP in partnership with the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera. The program is implemented with accredited peoples’ organizations under DA-CAR, thus the grant to said organizations.

Ififila Farmer’s Association were given the project intervention of P950,000 in support to their carabao production, while PPDAA received interventions of about P950,000 in the form cattle, HDPE Pipes and Micro tiller.

Apart from the two organizations, 3 other groups also benefitted from the program.


Kinniwid Ya Sinnagkat Women’s Cooperative of Bagumbayan, Tabuk City received P1.425 million worth of carabaos with training component, Mangali Centro Fisherfolks and Farmers Association was given carabaos and coils of barbwire amounting to P1.425M, while Canaan Organic Farmer’s Agricultural Cooperative of Nambaran with P1.425M worth of mechanical thresher, multi-tiller, shredder, grass cutter and coils of barbwire.


In an earlier report by the Provincial Information Office, the carabaos provided are a part of the requests of the CBA-CPLA members funded by the SIPAT program which is one of the aspects of the Five-year Normalization Program of the GPH- CBA-CPLA Peace Process.
