Updated: Sep 14

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The ‘Philippine Sensational Six’ which includes two iKalingas have returned to the Philippines after representing the country in the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris.

Jerrold Mangliwan of Tabuk City and Agustina Bantiloc of Lubo, Tanudan were part of the 6-man team sent to the competition on August 29 – September 9 (Philippine time).

44-year-old Mangliwan qualified in the men’s 400m T52 finals but missed the podium and finished at 8th place. He likewise played in the 100m T52 and fell short in the competition.

Bantiloc, 55, meantime, was one of the Philippine flag bearers during the opening ceremony. She competed in the para-archery where she lost to Brazil.

On September 11, the two together with Ernie Gawilan, Angel Mae Otom, Cendy Asusano, and Allain Keanu Ganapin were welcomed back to the country by the Philippine government.

These six were invited the following day, September 12, for a meet and greet at the President’s Hall at the Malacañan Palace.

Just like their Olympian counterparts, the 6 Paralympians received P1 million cash incentive and presidential citation from the government. These were awarded by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself.

Mangilawan and Batiloc received the cash and award with their respective family and loved ones.
