2 rape cases filed in Baguio this July – One against Brgy. Official from Tayum, Abra and another a construction worker who raped a 5-yr.-old girl and 2-yr.-old-boy

Baguio City, Philippines - Two separate cases of alleged rape have been filed before authorities in Baguio this July, involving a barangay official and a construction worker.   

 

One of the victims is a 22-year-old woman who came forward to report that she was allegedly raped by the 40-year-old barangay official from Tayum, Abra, on July 11, 2025. 

 

Reports from police obtained by the DZWT 540 AM - Radyo Totoo narrated that the young woman went to her aunt’s house in Baguio to check on her boyfriend’s motorcycle parked there.

While at the residence, she went inside to connect to Wi-Fi. Minutes later, the accused, also inside the house, suddenly locked the doors and forcibly held the victim until he was able to carry out the sexual assault. 

 

In a separate incident, the 59-year-old construction crew, as stated in the report, raped a 5-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy.

 

The complainants told the police that the incident happened on February 12-17 and March 12-19,2025, respectively.

 

The incident was only reported to the police on July 14.

 

As of this writing, the suspects remain at large, and manhunt operations are ongoing.

 

The Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), as mentioned by the said media, confirmed that cases have been officially filed against the two, including rape, statutory rape (sexual intercourse with a minor), and sexual assault.
