2 riders killed in Isabela’s tragic motorcycle crash

Santiago City, Isabela – Two riders died after their motorcycles crashed head-on along Barangay Rizal, Santiago City, Isabela at around 12 midnight on August 28, 2022.

The collision involved a Honda 125 and a Motoposh 150.

Rolando Ortinez, a witness of the incident, narrated through Bombo Radyo Cauayan that the driver of Honda 125 was speeding and attempted to overtake a trailer truck ahead of him. The overtaking led him to encroach on the other lane and collided with the other rider.

The witness further relayed that the helmets of both riders were crushed, and thus they sustained severe head injuries as well as injuries in other parts of their body.

The riders were rushed to the hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

The victims were identified as Angelo Bajet, 34, married and a resident of Raniag, Ramon, Isabela; and Sayful Acha-ol, 20, resident of Potia, Alfonso Lista, Ifugao. The Honda 125 was driven by Bajet.

Bajet’s companion admitted they were under the influence of alcohol while driving on their way home when the accident happened.

On the same day, another road accident which involved a 10-wheeler truck, a motorcycle, and a tricycle in Tumauini, Isabela happened.

Police said the driver of the trailer truck was also under the influence of alcohol. The accident claimed the lives of 6 people.

Isabela authorities warned the public, especially motorcycle riders, to take extra precautions and avoid driving while under the influence of alcohol to avoid accidents that may lead to injuries or worse, death.

“Maging disiplinado lamang sa pagbabaybay sa mga lansangan at maging mahinahon o di kaya ay maingat lamang sa pagpapatakbo ng mga minamnehong sasakyan sa kalsada, huwag sanayin ang hindi pagsusuot ng helmet, maging sa mga back riders at ang pinakamahalaga sa lahat ay iwasan ang nakainom kapag nagmamaneho. Huwag din ugaliin mag-overtake dahil ang aksidente ay walang pinipiling oras o lugar,” said Isabela Rescue 922.
