2 Tinglayan boxing athletes reign supreme in invitational ‘Reign of Mingors’ tournament

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Following their win in the recently concluded Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet 2024, the boxing prowess of two Tinglayan athletes shone anew in an invitational match held over the weekend in Tabuk City.

 

Ace Uriel Seneca and Lester Bang-as, both gold medalists during the CARAA Meet won over their contenders during the invitational ‘Reign of Mingors’ tournament.

 

The event, spearheaded by Erwin Tagure of Team Tribu Banwar along with other prominent coaches in Kalinga, was participated in by hundreds of martial artists across the country. Combative sports played include K-1 kickboxing, boxing, and Muay Thai.

 

In said event, both Seneca and Bang-as boxed to victory over their contenders in their respective fields.

 

Seneca was proclaimed the winner of their match between Agnahe of the Nueva Viscaya Brew Brothers Team via split decision, while Bang-as won via technical knockout over Burgan of Cagayan.

 

With their achievement, the local government of Tinglayan led by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab commended them anew and wished them good luck in their upcoming journey at the Palarong Pambansa.

 

“Congratulations in your achievements. Thank you for raising the flag of Bangad National High School and the municipality of Tinglayan. We wish you all the best in your upcoming boxing matches, especially in the Palarong Pambansa,” LGU Tinglayan wrote.

 

The two, along with other Cordilleran student-athletes, are set to fly to Cebu in the coming months to represent the Cordillera Region in the Palarong Pambansa 2024.
