2-yr.-old boy found dead in Chico River, Bontoc

Bontoc, Mt. Province – A 2-year-old toddler died of drowning at Sitio Lanao, Bontoc Ili, Bontoc on Saturday, January 21.

The victim whose house is situated near the riverbank of the Chico River went out of their house and wandered off on said date, unnoticed by his parents.

Police investigation added the toddler was seen with another 4-year-old child playing in the riverbank prior to the incident.

At 3 PM, the kid identified as Zane Cody “Polis” Gay-od, was reported to have drowned in the river.

Three response teams along with some volunteers proceeded immediately to the area for a search.

He was found 4 PM by his own uncle underwater, according to Bontoc Information Office.

A Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed on the toddler but while at the ambulance, a physician who was onsite declared him as ‘dead on arrival’.

His remains were ferried to the Bontoc General Hospital.
