22 Pasil micro- entrepreneurs get livelihood kits from DTI-Kalinga

Pasil, Kalinga – Some 22 micro-entrepreneurs in Pasil, Kalinga received on Friday, October 07, their livelihood kits from the provincial Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) during the awarding ceremony held in Amdalao, Guina-ang.


The grant is under the agency’s Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay - Livelihood Seeding Program (NSB-LSP) which provides an individual package of P8,000 worth of livelihood kits that contain items that could aid entrepreneurs in the recovery and improvement of their businesses.


The provincial trade and industry department, through the Negosyo Center of Balbalan, in partnership with Pasil LGU, spearheaded the distribution of said kits.

According to Business Counselor, Engr. Dexter G. Bannoya, the beneficiaries belong to the trading sector, wearables and homestyle industry, livestock sector, and some in the food processing sector.


Provincial Director of DTI-Kalinga, Renie Ramos reiterated their support to the recipients and further challenged them to utilize the livelihood kits as intended. Also, he recognized the efforts of the local government for the rapid increase of business licenses in the locality.


Programs supporting entrepreneurship


In her talk, Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist of SME Development Division Josephine Daliyong explained various Negosyo Center programs that entrepreneurs may take advantage of. Among such are capacity building, product development, marketing, and financial facilitation.


Meanwhile, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Segundina Gumabay relayed that those in the business sector may avail of the programs in their office like the Sustainable Livelihood Program (LSP).

Expression of gratitude


The beneficiaries, through Delia Wail, thanked DTI-Kalinga for the grant and committed to doing their part in expanding their livelihood projects in order for them to contribute to the community in return.


Representing Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr., Administrative Officer Milagros Batalao likewise recognized the continued support of the department in the local industry sector.


The barangay captains of Pugong and Galdang also extended their support to the program beneficiaries. The officials assured their assistance in the monitoring phase to ensure the success of the micro-entrepreneurs and the program as well.
