Pinukpuk, Kalinga – A 22-year-old farmer was not able to come home alive to his family after heavy rains and lightning struck Barangay Dugpa on Thursday afternoon, May 29.

The victim and his 24-year-old brother were in the corn field when they decided to go home due to the harsh weather, according to Barangay officials of Dugpa, who shared this information with GURU Press Cordillera.

The 22-year-old was said to be walking ahead of his older brother when the lightning struck him to the ground. Seeing the scene unfold before him, the 24-year-old rushed to the victim, but he was also jolted.

Barangay officials further relayed the 24-year-old, who was then unable to walk, crawled more or less 50 meters to seek help from their uncle.

The younger brother died on the spot while the older one was rushed to the hospital, where he is currently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
