Updated: 4 days ago

Santiago City, Isabela - A 24-year-old man lost his life after the tricycle he was driving crashed into a pile of sacks of rice placed on the side of the road in Barangay Ambalatungan, Santiago City, Isabela, on the evening of Monday, September 30.

The man, whose identity was withheld by the police, was a farmer and a resident of Purok 6, Barangay Abra, Santiago City.

An investigation conducted by the authorities revealed that with the impact of the crash, the victim might have been over-speeding and had not noticed the pile of sacks of rice because it was covered by a tent.

As a result, the victim sustained severe injuries to various parts of his body.

The responding medical team rushed him to Southern Isabela Medical Center (SIMC), but he was not able to survive.

Meanwhile, a follow-up report from the Santiago PNP disclosed that the relatives of the victim and the owner of the sacks of rice already settled the matter amicably.
