A 25-year-old woman sits as one of the youngest municipal officials in the Province of Ifugao – voted by the people of Lamut to legislate laws for them in the next three years.

Kerajie Ryne "Kajie" Dacmay Bimmulog took her oath as the newest and youngest elected member of the Sangguniang Bayan of Lamut on June 18 after winning the May 2025 elections.

Honorable Kajie first entered politics when she was 18 and was elected as SK Chairperson. Her grit and enthusiasm in serving the public got her re-elected in 2023, where she served as the SK Federation President and joined the Sangguniang Bayan as an ex-officio member.

At 24, Kajie wanted to expand her horizon and extend her services not just to the youth but to the entire Municipality of Lamut. She then joined the race and filed her candidacy for Municipal Councilor in October 2024. Carrying the young blood full of drive in her, Kajie was voted by the people of Lamut to be one of their legislators.

The newly-elected councilor said her feat is not just a personal milestone but a shared journey with the people of Lamut whom she represents in the council. She asserted that her age does not limit her capabilities to listen, learn, and serve the residents of Lamut with sincerity.

“I may be young, but I am ready to listen, to learn, and to serve with sincerity. I am still learning. I am still growing. But with your help, guidance, and prayers, I am ready to serve with sincerity and dedication. May God guide us all in this new chapter of leadership and service for our people and for our home,” she wrote in her official Facebook account.

In the first session of the 21st Sangguniang Bayan on July 2, Kajie was given the lead chair of the Committee on Health and the Committee on Tourism, Institutional Linkages and External Affairs.

The young legislator is also the Vice Chairwoman of the Committee on Finance, Appropriations and Budget, the Committee on Social Welfare and Human Rights, and the Committee on Youth and Sports Development.
